Cunard cruises to Alaska

Combine a cruise with a train trip – My favorite!

With the return of Cunard cruises to Alaska in 2019, the cruise line announced its partnership with luxury rail Rocky Mountaineer.  It has been nearly 20 years since Cunard cruises to Alaska ended.  And soon they’ll be back.

Cunard cruises to Alaska will mostly be 10-nights, with round-trip departures from Vancouver, beginning on May 31, 2019.

Rocky Mountaineer railroad is the only train line that covers these majestic and historic routes in British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest.  A visitor favorite since 1990, Rocky Mountaineer has welcomed over 2 million passengers.  A train trip onboard Rocky Mountaineer’s all-dome fleet offers an up-close  look at  the vast and untouched wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.

What’s offered for train tours

Rocky Mountaineer tours are offered pre-and post-voyage and include either three or five nights’ accommodation and two full days aboard the train. The train travels through spectacular scenery;  passing glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, rushing rivers, through mountain passes and tunnels. Highlights of taking a tour by train include the Continental Divide, Kicking Horse Canyon, Spiral Tunnels and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon.

Other luxury train trips offer guests a chance to choose from four unique rail routes.  These may travel through destinations such as Seattle, WA, Vancouver, B.C., and the majestic Canadian Rockies in Alberta. The unparalleled experience onboard the all domed fleet offers rich, historic storytelling, world-class cuisine, and a first-hand look at the vast, untouched beauty of Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
